THE JADE BUDDHA OF UNIVERSAL PEACE IN ESCONDIDO

THE LARGEST JADE BUDDHA OF THE WORLD

gosh what an experience it was this trip to Escondido yesterday on a hot sunny day. The Phap Vuong Buddhist Monastery in Escondido is tucked into hills of a residential area and there were  hundrets if not thousands of people to pay their respect. This statue weighs 4 tons and is is nearly 9 feet high. The stone was purchased in Vancouver and is carved from gem-quality dark green jade. It is on it’s world tour and is officially called the “Jade Buddha of Universal Peace”. Peace is definatly around there; Buddha means “The enlightened One” in Sanskrit. Besides a spiritual experience  it was a great photo opportunity for me and I feel blessed to share my images with you.

I hung out with all those precious statues and was just absorbing what else was going around me like devoties who would light up incense, babies, elderlies, laughter, food, drums, praying people, candles, monks and nuns and parades. The air was filled with peace and happiness. Before I left I noticed that for the entire time a white dove was sitting on the roof right above the Jade Buddha of Universal Peace that was my final picture , wow  the symbol of peace just among us!
