SPRING – the Awakening of ………………

the Daffodils are the messengers of Spring. Symbolizing rebirth and new beginning it is one of the first flowers of spring. It is not only the trumpet shaped flower I like so much , more the beginning of the unfolding of the flower bud, that little paper like, a collar type  around it’s neck. It is so thin and fragile and yet holds the whole flower together until it unfolds itself to a beautiful blossom.

Countless poets were inspired by the daffodils to praise the beauty of nature. Only to mention one of the famost William Wordsworth. The first few lines go like this……….

” I wandered lonely as a cloud

That floats on hight o”er vales and hills,

When all at once I saw a crowd

A host, of golden daffodils, beside the lake beneath the trees,

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze..”
