What a  truly blessing to be part of His Holiness Dalai Lama’s birthday celebration at the Honda Center, in Anaheim, Orange County,CA

In front of the entrance to this event, there were set up designated walls  for anybody who wanted to paint and express birthday wishes to the Dalai Lama and there were quite  some very artistic paintings and loving messages.

A group of beautiful Tibetan’s caught my eye, sported in their traditional outfits. Mostly I enjoyed their happy smiles.

Okay now, this not about taking professional images, since my seat was quite far away and I wasn’t one of the VIP photographers. Luckily  I was shooting with my micro lens, yet all the images are shot into one the 4 big screens, installed all over the place.

Through this celebration, Dalai Lama was showered with speeches and birthday wishes from celebrities of artists, musicians, comedians, Nobel prize winners and so many more. Their words were moving and full of  appreciation. I will let the images speak by itself, to have you watch Dalai Lama’s endless compassion.

For each speaker, The Dalai Lama got of his seat to hug, embrace or touch forehead to forehead…. what a humbling gesture..

Most impressing was the Love and Compassion The Dalai Lama expressed to the children, who performed so beautifully for him.

Of course there was a birthday cake for him, since The Holiness Dalai Lama loves sweets and last not least he had to blow out one birthday candle for him.

Finally through two thirds of this celebration , His Holiness Dalai Lama got to speak, what we all were waiting for. Since it was so moving, I can’t repeat the beauty of his wisdom he shared. He just spoke the Truth out of his wide open heart. The essence of his speech and his final closing words were  ” Well it is my birthday today, but the Truth is, that it is every day my and your birthday”

And with those words he quickly disappeared from the stage.                    Thank you Holiness Dalai Lama to be in this world for The World, Happy Birthday to you

I always like your photographs. And I liked your ending statement very much:
    “Thank you for being honest.”

  4. Linda says:

He makes life seem so simple! We try to complicate things….
Thank you for sharing, Cornelia. My neighbor, Joyce Perry, has the honor of introducing him this morning at the Bren Center on behalf of the local Native American community. What an honor. Can you imagine?

    • Thank you dear Linda for your thoughts. I absolutely agree with you, that we complicate things, also we are taking things too serious and trying too hard to have control over everything. Instead of developing trust and awareness. What an honor for your neighbor, I wonder what she has to share about her experience. “Minds together” Cornelia
